The Real Impact of Snoring

Snoring Disrupts Two Lives. The Solution Helps Both.

Snoring is rarely just the snorer's problem. It's a shared nightly experience with real consequences for both people — and often a source of tension that extends well beyond the bedroom.

What the snorer often experiences
  • Waking up unrefreshed despite hours in bed
  • Daytime fatigue, brain fog, and reduced focus
  • Dry mouth or sore throat in the morning
  • Embarrassment — in hotels, travel, or shared spaces
  • Awareness that it's affecting someone they love
  • Reluctance to seek help because it seems unsolvable
What their partner often experiences
  • Disrupted sleep from noise that starts the moment they drift off
  • Moving to a separate room — and the distance that creates
  • Chronic sleep deprivation with no obvious cause to others
  • Frustration that builds quietly into resentment
  • Concern about what the snoring might mean health-wise
  • Years of wishing there was a simple answer
The Science

What Causes Snoring — and How Solea Sleep Addresses It

Snoring occurs when the soft tissue of the soft palate and uvula — relaxed during sleep — vibrates as air passes over it. This vibration is what produces the sound. The more lax and floppy the tissue, the more it vibrates, and the louder the snoring.

Solea Sleep uses a CO₂ laser at a precise wavelength that is uniquely absorbed by oral soft tissue. The laser energy heats the collagen fibers in the soft palate, causing them to contract and tighten. Over the following days and weeks, the body remodels and reinforces that collagen — producing a firmer, less mobile soft palate that vibrates significantly less during sleep.

The treatment takes approximately fifteen minutes. The sensation is described by most patients as a mild, tolerable warmth — no anesthetic injection is required. You leave the same way you arrived: fully functional, comfortable, and ready for the rest of your day.

Results typically become noticeable within a few days to two weeks as collagen remodeling progresses. Most patients complete one to three sessions depending on the degree of snoring and their individual tissue response.

How Solea Sleep Works
The soft palate is the source

The soft palate and uvula are the primary anatomical source of most snoring — they relax during sleep and vibrate with each breath. Tightening this tissue directly addresses the cause, not just the symptoms.

CO₂ laser energy contracts collagen

Solea's precise 9.3-micron CO₂ laser wavelength is absorbed specifically by oral soft tissue — heating the collagen fibers and causing immediate contraction. This is the same wavelength used in dental procedures for its excellent soft tissue properties.

Collagen remodeling continues over weeks

The initial contraction is just the beginning. The body responds to the treatment by remodeling and reinforcing the collagen in the treated area over the following weeks — producing a progressively firmer palate and sustained reduction in vibration.

Results last months to over a year

Solea Sleep's effects are lasting. Most patients experience significant snoring reduction for a year or more following a completed course of treatment. Maintenance sessions can be scheduled as needed if snoring gradually returns over time.

What to Expect

Your Solea Sleep Appointment

From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, the entire experience is designed to be easy — because the treatment itself should be the least eventful part of your day.

01
Consultation & Assessment

Dr. Curtis reviews your snoring history, any relevant health factors, and confirms that Solea Sleep is the right approach for you. This includes a brief evaluation of the soft palate to assess tissue laxity and determine the appropriate number of sessions. If there is any concern about obstructive sleep apnea alongside snoring, he will discuss evaluation options before proceeding.

02
The Treatment — Approximately Fifteen Minutes

You are seated comfortably and remain fully awake throughout. Dr. Curtis applies the Solea laser to the soft palate in a systematic, organized manner — working point by point across the tissue to ensure consistent, precise energy delivery to every area that needs treatment. The sensation is mild warmth — brief, tolerable, and remarkably underwhelming for a treatment that produces such meaningful results. No injection. No cutting. No blood. Just a quiet hum and a warm sensation for a few minutes.

Most patients are genuinely surprised by how simple the experience is.
03
Immediately After — No Recovery Needed

There is no recovery period. You may notice mild soreness in the throat for a day or two — similar to the feeling after a long run in cold air. This resolves quickly. You can eat, drink, speak, and go about your day normally. Some patients prefer to avoid very hot foods or liquids for 24 hours. That's the full scope of aftercare.

04
Results Develop Over Days to Weeks

The collagen contraction from the treatment is immediate, but the full remodeling response develops over the following one to two weeks. Many patients — and their partners — notice a meaningful reduction in snoring within the first few nights. The complete outcome from each session is typically apparent at the two-week mark, at which point Dr. Curtis assesses whether an additional session is warranted.

What Patients Experience

Results Worth Sleeping On

~15
Minutes of treatment

The entire laser application takes approximately fifteen minutes per session — shorter than a dental cleaning, with no injection required. Patients consistently describe the treatment as simpler and more comfortable than they expected.

2 + 1
Initial course + annual maintenance

The standard protocol is two sessions spaced 21 days apart for the initial course of treatment. A single annual maintenance session sustains the results over time. That's the complete program for most patients.

12+
Months results typically last

The collagen remodeling produced by Solea Sleep provides lasting results. Most patients report sustained benefit for a year or more following treatment. Maintenance sessions are available and can be scheduled as needed if snoring gradually returns.

0
Surgery, CPAP, or recovery

Solea Sleep is the non-surgical, non-device, non-pharmaceutical answer to snoring. No mask. No machine. No procedure table. No time off work. No complicated aftercare. A genuinely simple treatment for a problem that has been disrupting sleep for far too long.

An important distinction: Solea Sleep is a treatment for snoring — the sound produced by vibrating soft palate tissue. It is not a treatment for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a separate condition involving actual pauses in breathing during sleep. Snoring and sleep apnea can co-exist. If you have symptoms of sleep apnea — gasping during sleep, morning headaches, excessive daytime sleepiness, witnessed breathing pauses — Dr. Curtis will discuss appropriate evaluation before or alongside Solea Sleep treatment. Treating snoring while sleep apnea goes unaddressed would not be in your best interest, and we will always tell you so.

"I have had patients tell me this procedure saved their marriage. I believe them. You can work through a lot of things in a relationship. Waking up furious at 2am every night for twenty years is harder to forgive."

Dr. Jared Curtis brings a rare combination of clinical depth and genuine curiosity to his practice — a bioengineering background, dental training, and a co-founding role at Le Sommet that reflects his belief that dentistry and aesthetic medicine have more overlap than most providers acknowledge.

His interest in Solea Sleep is a natural extension of that overlap. The Solea laser system is one he knows intimately from his dental practice at Copper Creek Dental, where it has transformed how he performs procedures — minimizing discomfort, eliminating the need for anesthetic injections in many situations, and producing exceptional results in soft tissue treatment.

Applying that same platform to snoring — a condition that meaningfully affects quality of life for patients and their partners — was a straightforward decision. The science is sound, the treatment is simple, and the results are real. That's the standard everything at Le Sommet is held to.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Solea Sleep painful?+
No anesthetic injection is required, and most patients describe the sensation during treatment as mild warmth — brief and very well tolerated. After treatment, some patients notice a mild soreness in the throat for one to two days, similar to the feeling of a sore throat at the beginning of a cold. This passes quickly and does not require any medication beyond what you would normally take for mild discomfort. The overwhelming majority of patients are surprised by how comfortable the experience is relative to the results it produces.
How is this different from CPAP or a mandibular advancement device?+
CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) and mandibular advancement devices are ongoing nightly interventions — they work while you wear them and stop working when you don't. They are appropriate treatments for obstructive sleep apnea and often prescribed alongside snoring management. Solea Sleep is different: it structurally changes the tissue that produces the snoring, so the effect is present whether or not you're wearing anything. There is nothing to maintain nightly, nothing to travel with, and nothing to adjust over time. For patients who snore without significant sleep apnea, Solea Sleep is often a simpler and more permanent solution.
I've been told I have sleep apnea. Can I still do Solea Sleep?+
This depends on the nature and severity of your sleep apnea. Solea Sleep treats snoring — the noise — and does not treat the apneic events (pauses in breathing) that define obstructive sleep apnea. For patients with mild sleep apnea who also snore, there may be a role for Solea Sleep alongside their prescribed sleep apnea management. For patients with moderate to severe OSA, Solea Sleep is not a substitute for CPAP or other medically prescribed interventions. Dr. Curtis will review your sleep study results and health history at consultation and give you an honest assessment of whether and how Solea Sleep fits into your overall care.
How many sessions will I need?+
The standard protocol at Le Sommet is two sessions spaced 21 days apart — enough time for the collagen remodeling from the first session to fully develop before adding the second. Most patients notice meaningful improvement after the first session and see the full outcome of their treatment several weeks after completing the second. From there, a single annual maintenance session sustains the results as the natural aging process gradually relaxes collagen over time. That's it — two sessions to get there, one session per year to stay there.
Will the snoring eventually come back?+
For most patients, results are sustained for a year or longer following a completed course of treatment. Collagen naturally changes over time as part of normal aging, and soft tissue can gradually become more lax again — meaning some patients benefit from a maintenance session every year or two to sustain the results. This is entirely predictable, non-urgent, and easy to manage. Think of it the way you'd think about any maintenance treatment: one scheduled visit per year to protect an outcome you value. At fifteen minutes a session, the investment is minimal.
My partner is the one who snores. Can I book this for them?+
You can absolutely schedule on their behalf — and many appointments are booked by the partner whose sleep has been affected. The consultation is with the patient, and Dr. Curtis will do a quick assessment at the first appointment. If you'd like to be present for the consultation and treatment, you're welcome to be. This is, genuinely, a gift that changes daily life for both people.
